Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster has been always a different kind of franchise in Bollywood unlike those heavily-produced big-budget ones. It has been more dependent on the performances and storyline intrigued in the wrap of compelling dramatic story on a different backdrop every time. Now, the third film in the instalment of the franchise has been released today. Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster 3 is much bigger than the earlier two films in the franchise where it also includes two significant addition of cast as Sanjay Dutt and Chitrangada Singh.
About the movie
In the third installement, the story starts from where it last ended in second installement. Mahie Gill’s character Madhavi Devi has now become powerful, as the Member of Parliament whereas the second wife of Jimmy Shergill’s character Aditya Pratap, Ranjana played by Soha Ali Khan has become the alcoholic.Aditya Pratap is behind the bars where Madhavi assures that he remains there with the help of her loyal aide Kanhaiya played by Deepraj Rana.
The story starts taking its pace after Aditya Pratap get released from the jail and decide to destroy Madhavi Devi where Madhavi took the help of Uday Pratap played by Sanjay Dutt to do the same to him. There are different plots involved this time as well along with the back-story of Uday Pratap.
Why to Watch
Jimmy Shergill’s performance is once again impeccable to watch. In fact, he could be soleful reason to watch the film where driven the story almost alone sometime. Sanjay Dutt looks very different and fresh in the story, actually quite powerful in his presence. Sanjay Dutt has proven to be a great ‘Gangster’ in the story. Mahie Gill like always has nailed it with his extraordinary performance competing with actors like Jimmy Shergill and Sanjay Dutt without getting anywhere underplayed. The dark humour which is the significant part of the franchise is very well entertained in the plot yet again. Chitrangada Singh may have small part to play but did great in that much of scale. Post interval of the film is much pacier than earlier which is the good part but climax is bit of tense.
Why to not
First half of the film is somewhere dragging through. Some establishment or development of the story can be justified but it could be far better and more interesting. Sanjay Dutt’s character is a trial to make the film more massy which is a missing part of franchise earlier. Sanjay Dutt despite his good performance and good appeal, it looked down in the second part which might disappoint Dutt fans. There are some loopholes in the film towards the climax and some unnecessary elements like few songs and all, seem just added to make it more appealing.
The Final Call
If you have loved the first two installement of the Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster and you are loyal to the franchise, you must go for it. It definitely a good watch but still there it can disappoint you as it is not better than its earlier parts. However, you still enjoy the dark humour and the drama in-between these three characters. It is surely a one-time watch as for anyone. Jimmy Shergill and addition of Sanjay Dutt could be the best reason to watch it as well.
